2007 Mardi Gras Film Festival: Launch PreviewThe 2007 Mardi Gras Film Festival commences this Thursday in Sydney; GenerationQ.net readers get a look at the events over the two launch nights! Commencing 15 February is Version 14.0 for this year's Mardi Gras Film Festival. What is predicted to be the best festival yet, some two hundred films will be shown over two weeks. And it's all got to start somewhere; here is your preview of what you can expect at this year's launch. The Film Festival Launch will be held this Thursday at the City Recital Hall, Angel Place. You and a thousand others will get to see films from all of the finalists in this year's My Queer Career competition, and then join in festivities as all guests are welcome to the opening night party. This judging panel for this year's My Queer Career consisting of Margaret Pomeranz (Film Critic, co-host of At The Movies), Helen Bowden (Producer), Anton Enus (Journalist, SBS), and Ashley Luke (Fortissimo Films), have selected this year's finalists, bringing such a high caliber to this year's competition. Night two of the film festival sees the launch of another draw card to this year's festival, the launch to Queer Kino at the Chauvel Cinema. The night, which celebrates the history of German cinema, will be presented by film critic Axel Schock, and features 100 years of cinema in just 105 minutes. And as for the other thirteen evenings? Well, maybe the highlights such as Another Gay Movie, Boy Culture, Eating Out 2, and the festival ending Infamous are just the highlights of what you can expect to see over the next two weeks. Mardi Gras Film Festival Version 14.0 is almost ready for download, stay tuned to GenerationQ.net for coverage of this year's festival over the coming weeks.
