AIDS increases in Washington

Figures released indicate that the AIDS epidemic is on the rise in Washington.

AIDS has always been a disease which has posed as dominating to the gay community; this now applies in particular to the American state of Washington, where one in four gay men are now diagnosed with the disease. The based news is, unless dealt with in the immediate future, it is feared that the number will continue to rise.

Last week while releasing the alarming results, the Seattle-King Country health department made the call for safe sex to be promoted. It is thought that an increasing number of gay men are refusing to use protection while have sex in the Seattle-King County.

While it is thought that similar numbers are not appearing in nearby areas; authorities are still concerned that the number is at such a peak and may continue to rise.

Interim leader of the public health department, Dorothy F Teeter, said "We are still working to learn more about these individuals and the virus they have contracted." "We are concerned for these individuals and their partners and are continuing our investigation."

Results from the study also revealed that although the number of gay men with AIDS is on the rise, the number of men who are aware of their diagnosis have reduced the number of sexual partners they have.
