Adopted children figures on the riseStudies released have revealed that more adopted children are living with same-sex couples in Britain. Figures released last week in Britain have revealed that one in twenty children that have been adopted through care agencies are living with same-sex couples. Adoptions by same-sex couples are significantly rising across the board, with adoption rising by up to 50 percent in a number of areas across Britain. It is believed that the sharp increase in adoptions is through new legislation recently implemented, and also through increased support from social workers. Despite levels of same-sex adoption having a large increase, the initial target of a 50 percent increase overall was not met. It is hoped that figures will continue to rise, as there are still over 60,000 children in the care system needing homes. Over 3,700 adoptions were made by same-sex parents last year.
