America On The SlumpWhat is American coming to? A possible sociological explanation is revealed in this article. In the sociological sense, America is in its receding years of its reign as "the most powerful country in the world". All it has left are memories of its high tide and of when it used to be on top of it all.
ÂÂ
The war in Iraq has squandered the United State's thirty years of hegemony. Military superiority is all that survives today. America is in debt to many countries, and in fact many economists are afraid that if these countries start calling in their debt, there could be collapse in American economy.
ÂÂ
The Iraqi war has not decreased terrorism, rather it has increased it. The failure of the war has made new portals for Al Qaida to recruit people to its side to fight this "holy war". It can now carry out in more ease of "restoring dignity to humiliated youth" because the West fuels the process by its failure.
ÂÂ
The great Cicero once said "it is better to be feared than to be loved". But America has lost its love and its superiority. The failure of how it handled current day issues showed its vulnerability and due to that it has eliminated "fear of" its once glorious empire. Now it is "blowback" time.
ÂÂ
What we are currently up against is apocalyptic nihilism. We know not where it will end. All we can hope is that this generation will have enough stamina and willpower to put together the shattered humpty dumpty.
