Anthony Callea splits with partner

The two and a half year relationship between singer Anthony Callea and partner Paul has ended, with Callea declaring he is 'now single'.

The relationship between Australian Idol runner-up Anthony Callea and partner Paul was highly publicized when the singer came out earlier this year. In public comments made, the relationship is no longer, with Callea declaring he is “now single”.

“I am officially single as of a week-and-a-half ago,” Callea said to the Courier Mail. “You know ... s--t happens. It's onwards and upwards for me from here.”

“I am content. I have been in a long-term relationship with my partner, Paul, who has been by my side for the past two and a half years.

“Together we have the love and support of our family, friends and peers. I wouldn't have been able to do this without his support,” Callea said in a message on his forum.

The two met during production of the 2004 series of Australian Idol, a series which saw Callea perform The Prayer, which now holds the title of the highest selling single by an Australian artist in Australia, selling over 280,000 copies.

2007 has been a successful year for Callea, with promotion (including a nationwide tour) of his second album A New Chapter ensuring Gold sales for the record, being one member of the runner-up It Takes Two duo with Jo Stanley, a top-twenty single with Addicted To You, as well as appearing in the Tattoo Spectacular and performing roles in the Dead Man Walking and Rent musicals. Good on you Anthony!
