Arrest of Homicide Suspect, FBI Pursues AnotherWhile one suspect in the hate crime homicide of Satender Singh has been apprehended, one is suspected to have fled to Eastern Europe. The man suspected of throwing the punch that resulted in the death of Satendar Singh is 29-year-old Andrey Vusik of West Sacramento. He currently remains at large and is suspected of fleeting to Eastern Europe where the FBI is pursuing leads.
A suspect in the incident has been arrested and has a court appearance scheduled for August 22nd. Aleksandr Shevchenko, 22, appeared in court on Wednesday afternoon and had his arraignment postponed, posting bail that night. He is charged with intimidation and interfering with victim’s rights. Local groups are working to organize a demonstration at the Sacramento court on the day of Shevchenko’s appearance with the intent of showing how much this incident has affected the entire Sacramento community, not just the local gay population.
