Lou Rhodes' solo debut "Beloved One" has much to prove - and does so eloquently.
Ten years after starting the band Lamb with Andy Barlow, chanteuse Louise Rhodes decides to show what her soul really sings ? and nothing more. There are no over-produced beats or studio tricks in this album, which is bound to make simple songs hip again.
Lou teamed up with producer Emre Ramazanoglu to deliver earthy, acoustic guitar driven songs that sound like she's singing right next to you. Her stories of love and loss are embraced by great strings and percussion, that create a rich emotional scenery. Emotions are, in fact, what Lou's always been known to convey so well. From gently passionate love songs like ?Beloved One?, through elogies of pain and sorrow like ?To Survive? and ?Why?, to the Zen-influenced ?No Re-Run?, this album has a song for every occasion.
Lamb fans who liked their latest albums won't be disappointed by Lou's solo adventure. Newcomers may need to have an open mind and heart to this album hower - it's folk, Lou-style.
"Beloved One" is released for download on iTunes, napster, real networks, music net, music now, msn music, hear music, sony connect and snocap on Dec 5th 2005; the commercial release date is January 30th 2006.
