Blonds Really Do Have More Fun!THE FASHION INDUSTRIES NEW "IT" COUPLE! As fashion approaches us again in New York City for the Spring/Summer collection I wanted to introduce the new power couple in the fashion industry Phillipe and David Blond. I first me these two at a special event I used to host for out professionals, and these two walked in and stole my show!! They are always elegantly dressed with their own creations, glistening with bronze skin, and embellishing us with their gorgeous blond hair. They are the sweetest people you could meet, and I grew to love both them and their clothes as time went on. Eventually their work gained public applaud and they son found themselves represented by the company that made Heatherette famous-MAO PR. As their success has skyrocketed them to the top, of which they even had their own fashion show for last years fashion week-Spring/Summer, I had an opportunity to catch up with them too see where they were headed these days How did the two of you meet? One crazy night out in New York City. Are you a together as a couple or just strictly business? Yes, July will be our sixth anniversary. We like to mix business with lots of pleasure... Has being in a relationship with each other ever caused conflict with the business? No, once in a while there will be creative conflicts but never any real drama. Which unfortunately is not good for a reality TV show of our own LOL... What is it that brought you together as a team to do fashion? It was something Phillipe was already doing and something I always wanted to do... What was your first big break? Patricia Field and Sushi Sakai (head buyer for the fabulous downtown boutique Patricia Field's Hotel Venus) spotted us out wearing one of our creations and placed an order on the spot! We've gotten amazing exposure and can barely keep up with filling orders as Blond is now available in NY, LA, Tokyo, and soon Las Vegas. The Blonds, the new women's designer collection by Phillipe & David Blond, is set to solve the international party girl's dilemma for what to wear to the slew of fetes that she is required to attend and dazzle at.
Did you already realize how ruthless the business was before you got in it, and if so what kept you going? There are some very frustrating things about this business and I think there are some that are ruthless, but who has time for all that when there's so much fun to be had? For us, at the end of the day it's a rewarding experience when we have the opportunity to inspire someone to have fun with his or her own personal style. Do you find it hard to make real friends in your industry? To be honest we wouldn't exist without them. What was it about women's clothes that sparked you to design it more than men's wear? We find that designing for women allows us to have more creative freedom, but not to worry Blond Boy will be "out" soon! I have seen you both out in your own gowns looking flawless, have you ever had any negative feedback from this? No, people love the spectacle and glamour of it all... What was it like putting together your first fashion week production? Very exciting, the theme of the show was "Blonds are Forever". Based on Bond girls passed and present. This particular collection was meant to inspire and empower women to express themselves and have some fun! We learned so much in the process and we couldn't have done it without the love and support from our family and friends as well as Mauricio and Roger Padilha of MAO Public Relations. It's also been a lot of hard work and a fantastic experience. If you'd like to see highlights from the show check out: HTTP://www.maopr.com and click look books or Your collection has proven very popular with both celebrities and fashion gurus, how are you dealing with the sudden success? So far the response has been very positive and we're very grateful for that. But ultimately we define success as being uninhibited to completely express yourself creatively. Where do you see your collection going from? Currently we are working on a secondary line that will feature our signature denim jeans and also a menswear line that will be launched in the spring. Where is your collection available? Blond is exclusively available at Patricia Field's Hotel Venus in New York, Kaje in Beverly Hills, and Ash & Diamonds Tokyo. Anything extra you'd like to share? Drop by and say hi at HTTP://www.phillipeanddavidblond.com As you can see these two boys are the new ?in? for fashion. Try and get your hands on some of their elegant attire. Oh, and let me not forget that I saw a preview of their jeans, which are absolutely amazing. I strongly suggest signing up in advance for a pair, as I am sure they will sell out faster than they can be made. Lets hear it for the new gay power fashion couple-The Blonds!
