Can conservatives ban gay marriage in the only states that allows it?While right-wing conservates are blaming gay marriage for the Democratic sweep in Washington, the only state that legally allows gay marriage may be loosing that right. It seems as though many right wing groups are blaming same sex marriage for the change of power in Washington. Normally President Bush and his fellow right-wing conservatives turn to their 'christian base' to help them win tight races. Now, the conservatives are sounding off in a post election rally. They blame same sex marriage for the Democratic sweep. Meanwhile, in the only state that legally allows gay couples to marry; Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney is going to ask his state to not only stop gay marriage, but to also ban it completely. Lawmakers have basically ignored Romney's request to take up the issue in the past. He brought the matter up again last week, but they refused to address it; instead voting to recess until January 2nd. This likely kills the measure because a vote then is unlikely. Romney's spokesman, Eric Fehrnstrom, said the fight won't be over until the people vote.
Romney has planned a rally Sunday where he will demand that the legislature reconvene to vote on the issue.
