Catch and Release is a sweet and predictable romantic comedy filled with lots of drama. This is a film that we have all seen before, but if you are a fan of “chick flicks� then Cath and Release is a good way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

 

 

Gray Wheeler is on top of the world, a seemingly perfect life she is about to marry the man of her dreams. Then just days before the wedding tragedy strikes as her husband to be dies suddenly. Filled with grief, Gray begins to get her life back on track.

 

 

Then out of nowhere she discovers a secret life that her fiancé had on the side. He has been sending monthly checks to a child that she never knew about after five years of being together. Added to the mess that has become her life, she is forced to move in with some friends. With no happy ending in sight she begins to fall for one her closest friends Fritz, played by Timothy Olyphant.

 

 

There is a happy ending but that is expected from the very beginning of the film. Catch and Release may have every Hollywood ingredient thrown in, this does not always many that the film will be a winner. While enjoying Garner’s previous work, I’m pleased to say that I did like her in this film as well. Kevin Smith is very funny as expected and really makes this film interesting during some dull parts.
