Channel Seven scores with bingoNational Bingo Night has proven to be a hit for Channel Seven, with an average audience of close to 2.2 million viewers. Since the official changeover of Kath & Kim from ABC to Channel Seven, the Seven network has won the majority of Sunday nights in recent weeks. But with Seven now showing repeats (but still managing to just win its timeslot), what was going to help the network win? National Bingo Night of course.
The interactive bingo game show proved to be ratings worthy with its premiere clocking up an average of some 2.18 million viewers nationally across its ninety minute telecast. While the leaders debate had more viewers than the game show, ratings would have to be combined for the ABC and Nine’s telecast to beat it, with individual ratings for both networks not enough to topple Bingo. To add to its success, 722,000 bingo cards were downloaded by viewers who chose to play at home, over half a million of those on Sunday alone. The odds were stacked against home players however, with only 1,002 players’ cards being instant winners, and not all cards may have been claimed. National Bingo Night helped Channel Seven to have a minor victory on Sunday with 27.2 percent across the metropolitan market, marginally beating Nine with 26.9 percent. Ten came in third with a commendable 23.7 percent. Image: National Bingo Night – Yahoo!7
