Could Rudy Giuliani be the first candidate to openly support gay rights? It looks like there is going to be a candidate for President in '08 who supports gay rights, and he's a Republican! Dubbed America's Mayor for the way he handled the September 11th attacks, Rudy Giuliani is the first person to take a step towards candidacy in the 2008 Presidential race. The former New York City Mayor is creating a committee that will allow him to raise money for a 2008 presidential run and to travel throughout the nation. The gay rights supporting, pro-choice Republican filed papers to create the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee, Inc., created "to conduct federal 'testing the waters' activity under the Federal Election Campaign Act for Rudy Giuliani." Rudy said he would wait until after the 2006 mid-term elections to decide if he would seek the White House, and he did just that.
