This gripping new television series is one of the best shows to come out of 2007. This high powered legal drama takes place in New York City as one of the richest men in America is accused of stealing from his employees and many other illegal activities. Patty Hughes is the toughest lawyer working in the city and this is her story.
The show and depth of the story relies on flash backs and history of the case and the characters to create the present timeline. A young and impressionable lawyer played by Rose Byrne is hired to work and Hughes and Associates. The back ground as to why she was hired quickly becomes the opening for the series and leads to many dramatic events that follow in the weeks ahead.
This series is hard to capture and explain in a few short paragraphs, but it is intense and moves at breakneck speed in each episode. There are so many sub plots that are all related and no character can be trusted no matter what you think, everybody has their own agenda. The dialogue is brilliant and as expected Glenn Close is simply remarkable in this role. Close is an amazing actress and once again proves her worth in this series.
The setting in New York could not have been a better one, with the action taking place primarily in New York but also in Florida as well. Overall this series is pretty flawless, but can get confusing and mixed up at times by the depth and pace of the story. This is a perfect DVD set to get stuck into on a quiet night at home.
