Death Proof is the latest mind blowing thriller from the mind of Quentin Tarintino. Fans of his work will love the excessive violence and blood and gore that he is most famous for. Death Prrof is show like a 1960’s movie complete with colour featuring that faded look that we all remember from films made in this period. A great cast including Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms and Kurt Russell have been assembled here.

Even though Death Proof may look like it has been filmed in the 1960’s, it is set in present time; this was evident by the use of cell phones and Ipod’s throughout the film. Beginning in Austin Texas, local radio personality Jungle Julie and her friends head out for a fun night. Not known to her friends Julie announced on the radio that day that her friend will be looking for a good time tonight and if you approach her, you may be that lucky guy.

We soon see that Stuntman Mike played by Kurt Russell is hot on the girls trail, following them throughout the night from bar to bar. When they finally meet up Mike offers to give their friend a ride home that end in death. No evidence if found linking Mike to the killings and he is free to do it again.

Fast forward a few months and Mike is at it again in another city. A group of young ladies working on a film fall victims to Mike’s madness, but this time the tables are turned and the girls have the upper hand. With a twist that you do not expect this ending will blow you away. I found the pace of the story line somewhat slow and the dialogue a little tiresome but the second half of the film really makes up for the slow first half.

For those of you who have seen the work of New Zealand stunt actress Zoe Belle in shows such as Xena: Warrior Princess, Kill Bill 1 & 2 and her own documentary, "Double Dare", you'll also be keen to see what she gets up to in this film, both stunting and acting (as she has more of an acting role this time around). Watch out for the car chase scene, that's Zoe on the hood!
