Neil Patrick Harris, our very own Doogie Howser has just joined the Hollywood chorus of proud, out gay men. We're getting quite a nice collection...
In an interview with People Magazine, Neil Patrick Harris comes out of the closet, rebutting comments from his publicist earlier this week that the actor was "not of that persuasion.
"(I) am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest,"
The 33-year-old actor said he was motivated to disclose his sexuality because of recent speculation and interest in my private life and relationships (by the above mentioned). The How I Met Your Mother star happily confirmed that he is gay, just two days after his rep issued a release saying the actor is "not of that persuasion."
"The public eye has always been kind to me and until recently I have been able to live a pretty normal life," Harris, whose big break came playing teenage genius Doogie Howser, M.D.in the early 1990s, told People. "Rather than ignore those who choose to publish their opinions without actually talking to me, I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions."

Harris follows a trend of coming outs, of which we can note former 'N Sync member Lance Bass. "I'm enjoying my 30s," he told PEOPLE in 2004."I feel like I know where I'm going. And I like where I'm going."
Neil Patrick Harris (born June 15, 1973 in Albuquerque, New Mexico) is best known for his TV roles as the teenage doctor Doogie Howser, M.D. and the womanizing Barney in How I Met Your Mother. After Doogie Howser's four-season run ended in 1993, Harris played a number of guest roles on TV, before taking his first film role in 1995 as the lead in the little-seen shocker Animal Room. Since then his film work has included supporting roles in Starship Troopers, The Next Best Thing, Undercover Brother, and Harold Kumar Go to White Castle, in which he played a drug-crazed, lecherous parody of himself.
