Foley report points fingers without formal reprimand

Even though a House subcommittee report admonishes many of Mark Foley's colleague's actions; it did not issue any formal reprimands.

A Congression subcommitee issued a report last week saying that Former US Representative Mark Foley's status as a closeted gay man may have discouraged aides and fellow members of the House from speaking up sooner about his inappropriate behavior involving male teen pages.

The report says those who knew about Foley feared an outting may affect their political career. However, one of Foley's former top aides (an openly gay male) contests that the reason no one discussed it was because of "the subject matter" itself.

The report did not issue any formal reprimands to any House member or staffer involved.
