The National Stonewall Democrats (NSD) are not happy with the choice of former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. as Chair of the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC).

Leaders of the gay political activist group said the LGBT community should be concerned based on Ford's record in Congress because they believe he possesses a poor record on issues that impact gay and lesbian voters in America.

Last week, former Iowa Governor and presidential candidate Tom Vilsack announced he is stepping down as DLC chair revealing Ford as his replacement.

"Congressman Harold Ford has demonstrated a lack of leadership and judgment on family issues that causes our members great concern," said Joanne Wyrick, NSD Executive Director.

The NSD has over 90 chapters and is a "grassroots force for social change" in the Democratic party.
