Generation Q Interviews Joseph Gatehau!!

18 year old Joseph Gatehau was the first contestant eliminated in the Australian Idol race! Generation Q got to speak with him the day after his unfortunate elimination!

This year's Australian Idol Competition has been hot with 12 of the most talented singers we have seen graced the Idol stage. Unfortunately with the competition bears great responsibility on the Australian Public to vote for who they wan to win & with that one contestant each week is sadly eliminated.

Sunday's Performance Show saw 12 contestants light up our screens with a song that reflects who they are. Sadly, Sydney's 18 year old heart throb Joseph Gatehau was eliminated on Monday's Verdict Show & with that became the first eliminated contestant in Australian Idol 2006. We at Generation Q were lucky enough to chat to Joseph the day after the Verdict Show!

Was it a shock that you were the first contestant eliminated from Australian Idol?

To be honest I thought I was going to be eliminated this week & I did. I was really nervous the day after & I was stressing out & couldn't help but feel as though I was going to go but after I was eliminated I felt relieved for some reason.

After the show, What advice did the Judges give you for the future?
They all told me to keep my head up & to never give up on what I wanted to do in the future. They were really supportive.

Being only 18, What were the hardest things to overcome throughout the Australian Idol Experience?
Overcoming the shyness & nervousness mainly.

What was it like living in Idol HQ?
It was really exciting to live in the house. It was always buzzing & everyone was always up & awake.

Australia saw a humble, Shy side to you. Do you think what footage we saw is accurate?
Yeah I feel as though it was accurate. I'm just a shy guy I guess which is what you saw.

Out of the Top 12, Did you have any favourites or a small group of people you hung out with?
I have no favourties & I got along with them all. They are a really nice bunch of people & I hope that Australia makes the right decision on who should win this year.

Let's make a Theory... A record company comes up to you & asks you to make a CD with them, What would your CD consist of?
I would like to put all my originals on CD for the public to listen to. I'd like to write more songs, perform at my own gigs & hopefully get a music career in the future.

Many thanks goes to Joseph Gatehau for spending the time to speak to Generation Q. I can announce officially that each week Generation Q will interview each eliminated contestant as they come out f the competition so stay tuned next week for the next contestant out of the Australian Idol Race!

Cheers,

Joe K
