GenerationQ wishes you all a Happy and Safe New Year!

On behalf of the whole GenerationQ team, we'd like to wish all of our readers a Happy New Year! Please, don't do anything we wouldn't do! Stay safe and we hope to see you back on the site soon!

What a year it has been! As I mentioned in my 2005 wrap last year, although NYE tends to be a time for celebration and goal setting for the future, its also handy to take some time to reminisce on the past and all the lessons we have learned.

Personally, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for coming along on the ride with us. GenerationQ was born late this year, as a result of a merger between queerplanet and myqueerspace and so far is proving a huge success. Although it may have been somewhat confusing for some of the old queerplaneteers, I believe that GenerationQ is going to become even bigger and better to provide you with all the info, entertainment and living material and more!

Its been a pleasure to be involved with the website as Regional Manager for yet another year and I look forward to all the interesting challenges that will come my way next year! If you do have any feedback or comments you would like to add about the site, please don't hesitate as we always welcome them!

As you know, GenerationQ isn't all me! I have a wonderful team behind me that work hard to provide you with the great content you see on the site daily. On behalf of the News, Living and entertainment teams, here are Chris, Rod and Leigh, editors for each respective area, with their own wrap up of 2006.

What a year it has been indeed!

This year we have seen such a variance of news over the last twelve months; we truly have had it all. Terrorism and dictatorship once again took hold of the headlines, reliving events through trials such as the Bali bombings and more recently the death sentence for Saddam Hussein. AIDS has been covered more than ever before after its initial diagnosis 25 years ago; it's great to see so much progress and attention being given to such an important health issue. Australia in particular has also lost over the last twelve months some great people who touched the hearts of many, including Belinda Emmett, Steve Irwin, and Peter Brock.

The gay rights debate once again took hold, with progress being made slowly but surely not only here in Australia, but around the world. Entertainment also had its fair share of prime time; Paris and Britney getting intimate, one gay farmer in David Graham transforming from a nobody to a somebody, and Sir Elton himself saying 'Up yours!' to our beloved Prime Minister!

Speaking of gay rights, it is time that we, as individuals, continued the battle head on with obtaining equal rights, and that's exactly what we plan to do next year with our campaign for equal rights. The campaign, which will run across three continents simultaneously, is anticipated to contribute significantly to the push of this crucial human rights debate. Everyday People will also be one of a considerable number of highlights to the living section in 2007, as we get to learn of the fabulous stories that our readers have. As for news, well, no doubt we will have the same scandals and attention grabbing headlines with a lot more emphasis. But who will they be, and what will they be for? I'm sure we'll find out soon enough!

What a year it has been, and what an even bigger year is yet to come. 2007 is destined to be one of the biggest years worldwide, so sit back, hold on tight, and enjoy the ride.

This year, 2006, has brought many changes to the Living Section. Not only were there new Sub Sections added, such as Skin Sense, Fashion, GQEP etc but we have seen changes in the writers contributing as well. The Skin Sense section in particular has started off with interviews with leading Cosmetic and Skin Care companies such as Anthony Logistics for men, Karpathi and JoeyNewYork in relation to their products and 2007 promises to see a lot more of this including competitions, more feature reviews etc.

This year we also delved into the problems associated with Relationships, Sexuality, Coming Out and Homophobia but 2007 will bring more new and informative features regarding these subjects. We looked into the dangers associated with Gay Beats which will be continued to make people aware of what these places are actually like. Also next year the Living Section will hope to be the main focus for GenerationQ.net with many projects underway such as Youth Suicide, other Sexuality topics as well as those that were previously mentioned.
Lets all get out there and really make this site just as outstanding as what it was for 2006!!!

In our Entertainment area this year, we had some big interviews and articles come through. Some of these include interviews with Young Divas, Stephanie McIntosh, Rogue Traders, and Human Nature, reviews of Dusty: The Musical, Hedwig & The Angry Inch (plus an interview with iOTA), Pam Ann, Kosheen and Inaya Day (more than once). We are also proud to have helped introduce some unknown talent to the public, such as actor Rocky Marquette, artist Sayraphim Lothian, and singer/actor Anthony Costanzo, who was in the Midsumma performance "SERIOUSLY!" for Midsumma. We are proud to have been able to cover a lot of the events for Midsumma, which also helps to bring young unknown talents to the public eye. We were also able to cover the Australian Idol competition this year, which was awesome!

For 2007, we currently have some amazing interviews coming up, such as Darren Hayes, Diana Anaid, and Roger Sanchez, as well as some HUGE names who are releasing new material in 2007 ... but we'll keep them as a surprise for you For now, everyone here at GenerationQ wishes you all a very happy and safe New Year, and make sure you work on getting those Resolutions to actually happen this time! Thanks for all your support, and we'll see you in 2007!
