Grant Denyer apologies for gay black sex commentTelevision personality Grant Denyer has been forced to apologize after making a controversial comment. Grant Denyer, better known for being a personality on Channel Seven, having been the ‘weather guy’ on Sunrise for a number of years, as well as hosting Australia’s Got Talent and It Takes Two this year, has angered many after making a controversial comment on radio involving having sex with a black man.
The comment was made during an interview with Nova’s Merrick and Rosso the morning after the Logies. When answering a question, Denyer said “So it was a big old day … let me say I'm feeling like I had sex with a black man right now.” Towards the end of the interview, another sexual comment was made by Denyer when he said “I'll be the host who looks like he's been riding a horse for a week.” The comments outraged the gay community, as well as Laurie Ferguson, the multicultural spokesperson for the opposition, who said “the station should have cut him off immediately.” “Basically this guy should go back to reading the weather.” Denyer has since apologized on Today Tonight, stating “Anyone who knows me knows I wouldn't go out to offend.” “It was a wobbly joke, made way too early in the morning.”
