How To Dress To Impress- Top 5 Tips for Hooking Mr. RightFashion writer Oli McCall's top 5 tips for dressing for that date or night out! f you have the face and body of Hayden Christensen or Orlando Bloom
then the best thing to wear to impress your love interest on a date is
probably as little as possible. Unfortunately, few of us do, which
means that clothes are a must. What you wear on a date will have an
impact on your pulling chances so here are my top five tips on date
dressing.
First, you should make sure that you don't overdo it. When people are
trying to impress someone they have a tendancy to try too hard with
their outfit. I'm a great believer that men should dress smartly, none
of this dressing down to dress up rubbish. That said, if you look like
you're going to a wedding your date might be a little intimidated.
Also, think of the practicalities of it! If you're anything like me
you'll have a wardrobe full of weird and wonderful things but these
won't be much use to you in a nightclub. I would advise a smart shirt
and trousers for most gents. Maybe spice it up with some statement
shoes or a tight blazer. If you're slightly more adventurous why not
try a nice V-neck t-shirt and waistcoat. Keep it smart but simple.
Second, wear something that compliments your body. Remember, its you
that wears the clothes, not the other way around. To that end I think
that what we wear should always give a sense of what we look like
underneath! Get some tighter cut trousers, which would be good for
showing off the bum. A lightweight knit would be great for showing off
the old torso, as the material tends to skirt over your shape and let
it show through as you move.
Now we need to have a talk about colour and pattern. If you are going
to wear a patterned shirt then make sure the colour is nice. When I go
out and about I often see guys in loud floral or striped shirts and it
really does nothing for them. You'll end up looking like a big block
of loudness. This could be off-putting for your date. If you're going
to wear something bright go for a slogan shirt or top, as this doesn't
have much of a pattern. If you're wearing a floral number or something
with a lot of detail on its best to keep the colour neutral to tone it
down. You won't stick out and you'll look great.
I can only write these tips from my perspective really. So, another
thing that I find attractive on a date is good grooming! If you turn
up stinking, in dirty clothes, with your hair looking as if its making
a bid for freedom then you won't get far. Grooming is so important
because it shows your date that you can look after yourself and that
you're an organised and clean person. Tread yourself to a new haircut
for the big night out and make sure you wear your best aftershave. Put
on some clean underwear!
So, you're out of the club and the date has been going well. You and
your date are staggering to the nearest taxi rank in the dark and the
cold is biting. What should you have to hand? A coat! I might be a
hopeless romantic, but I think there are few things nicer than
offering your coat to your date to warm them up. Just make sure they
give it back.
So there we go! A few tips for dressing on dates. Think smart but not
too smart (not smart/casual a tshirt and trousers won't cut it) and
don't wear clashing or garish colours or patterns. Get yourself some
nice figure-hugging threads to show off the true you and make sure
you're on fine form cleanliness wise. Don't forget to take along
something to help your date out. If nothing else, at least they'll
remember you.
