In The Land Of WomenMeg Ryan and Adam Brody star in In The Land Of Women, now available on DVD. In the Land of Women
Sony Pictures In the Land of Women was not what I expected at all. I was in the mood for a romantic comedy and what I got was a highly emotional drama between people living in different stages of their lives. Adam Brody of The OC fame plays Carter Webb, a recently single guy who decides to look for more meaning in his life. He packs up his fast paced life in Los Angeles and moves to take care of his elderly grandmother out of state. Totally unexpected, Carter meets his new neighbours, the Hardwick family. Meg Ryan plays Sarah, the over caring mother of her two daughters Paige and Lucy. At first the daughters feel sorry for Carter who is recovering from his break up and decide to befriend him. What happens next was very unexpected as over time Carter and Sarah become very close to each other. This film is very much dialogue based with little action on screen. It covers almost every aspect of human emotion and what we go through in life. You have to listen to the words to be able to grasp the full impact of this film. It is funny, sweet and depressing all at the same time.
