Is Gay Marriage infectious?Would the introduction of gay marriage mean that people will declare themselves as being gay because of its existence? Gay marriage according to some anti-gay believers is infectious. Gee, they make it sound like us being happy and officially married is a disease! If we ultimately are going to be married one day, is it going to be bad for our health? There is no doubt about it, as the world develops into a new generation, the world is becoming gay friendlier. More politicians are standing up for equal rights, more members of the general public are becoming more accepting, and it is no longer a disgrace to admit that you are gay. We are making progress, and it looks as if we may ultimately be able to get married in our lifetimes. People are being proud of who they are as gay people, and because of this, the gay community as a whole is literally strengthening by the month, and we can see this right in front of our very eyes. This unfortunately, is encouraging more anti-gay activists to speak out in regards to why marriage and equal rights for gay people should not occur. According to some, if gay marriage is introduced, it will be seen as 'infectious', encouraging others to share their sexuality with the world. And according to them, the human race could possibly end because of it (ridiculous I know!) But just a thought; what meager percentage of the population is gay? I have always heard it was between six and ten percent. Oh no, the human race is going to end, and it is going to be because of us! How on earth will we survive? Maybe we need a baby boomers phase once every twenty years or so, just so that the human race does not become extinct! What a travesty this would indeed become! They obviously don't like to recall the fact that even gay people have kids. Is gay marriage truly infectious? In the above respect I would have to say no, but for gay people, I would have to say yes. ![]() Being married to the love of your life, it is the happiest event that anyone could ever experience. This was reiterated by Geoff Field and Jason Kerr, who were the couple to get married in Sydney's first illegal gay wedding last year, and are about to celebrate their first anniversary as a married couple (congratulations to you both!) Together, they appeared on Weekend Sunrise recently, and have shared how much happier their lives have been since they got married in November last year. The only way that gay marriage would be infectious, is for gay people themselves. Just being able to walk past married couples and see grins on their faces while they are holding hands, you just can't help but be happy for them. It will be our turn soon to be that happy for ourselves. The world is changing, and so are our rights; just give it time.
