Is Obama the Anti-Hillary?Has Hillary Clinton met her match? Is another Democrat challenging her strong hold as the party's next presidential nominee? Now another freshman Senator says he might take on the former first lady. The media has been dying for a democrat who can be the anti-Hillary Clinton, and it looks like they may have found him. Freshman Senator Barak Obama has said he has no intent to run for President in 2008, but yesterday he told 'Meet the Press' that he would 'consider' a run for the White House after the midterm elections have passed. Obama is probably the only talked about first-term senator in the country other than Clinton of course. Many critics say he is the media's choice including well-known media critic Howard Kurtz. He has characterized Obama's press coverage as "unbelievable puffy." On CNN's "Reliable Sources," he asked "Why are journalists...practically trying to draft the guy into a presidential race when's been a senator for just under two years?"
While no one may be able to sincerely answer that question, it may because he is likeable, has a clean political record and because his last name isn't Clinton. Some critics seem to believe that Clinton should have a good competitor in the Democratic primary to prove her ability to win the general election. While others think a battle for the nomination will be a bad move for party unity.
