Justin Berry. Sex, Lies and Videotape

Could Kurt Eichenwald now be under criminal investigation for child pornography-related charges related to Justin Berry?

THE story of Justin Berry and Kurt Eichenwald has taken many twists and turns since it was first made public by the New York Times in 2005. Since then we have found that many of the allegations Justin Berry made have been based on his own desperate attempt at trying prevent his own criminal prosecution.

This case has made another disturbing turn. GenerationQ has obtained through PACER documents and interviews that Kurt Eichenwald made more payments to Justin Berry. We were the first to make public the now infamous $2000 check, we can now report that there were other PayPal payment made to Berry around the time he re-activated his porn sites. Using the IP logs we were able to trace the movements of Justin Berry and Kurt Eichenwald in June and July 2005. It was during this time that Justin Berry video taped a 14 year old boy named "Taylor" masturbating and later posted this on the Justins Friends website. You will remember that this is the same website that Berry had put the disclaimer that ALL models were over the age of 18 years.

We know that Justin was in Mexico on June 29th and that he flew to Los Angels to meet Kurt on June 30th. We know from Eichenwald’s testimony that Justin flew from California to Dallas (where Kurt and later Justin lived) on the evening of July 7th.  We also know from the testimony of Taylor and Berry that Taylor spoke on the phone to Eichenwald. Berry was in Virginia (where Taylor lived) on June 9th and received the $2,000 check from Eichenwald that day. Lawyers of Tim Richards recently explained that they subpoenaed PayPal and got back a fake mail address and two credit card numbers used to send money to Berry from Dallas. The person called himself "Andrew McDonald".  "McDonald" also used a Yahoo address, and one from AOL that the FBI had already earlier identified as Kurt Eichenwald's. When we started to undercover the movements of "McDonald" the following picture emerges.

June 6 2005: “McDonald” pays Greg Mitchell (Berry's partner and webhost) and Justin $311.

June 8: Kurt Eichenwald writes a $2,000 check and express mails it to Justin Berry and Greg Mitchell in Virginia.

June 9: Justin Berry uploaded pornographic material to his PC. The images included shots of the minor referred to as Taylor. These photographs were shot at approximately 1 AM and uploaded to his computer at 4 AM.

June 14: “McDonald” pays Greg and Justin $200 via PayPal.

June 17: On June 17th 2005, Justin Berry creates a JustinsFriends.com account for “McDonald.”

The timing of these events and the payments suggest that not only was Eichenwald aware and viewing Justin Berry's websites, he was also paying Berry money to keep them online. He also spoke with Taylor on the phone and paid $2000 to Justin Berry the day before Berry took photos of Taylor and posted them online.

We are left with the following questions:

Did Eichenwald orchestrate the revival of Justin Berry's porn sites to create a story for the New York Times? - we know that Berry had actually stopped using his porn sites for at least six months prior to meeting Eichenwald and it was only after meeting Eichenwald that he restarted them.

Did Justin Berry collaborate with Eichenwald to revive his websites, in exchange for immunity from prosecution and a new career as an anti child-porn poster boy?

Did Berry and Eichenwald knowingly film 14 year old Taylor so that they actually HAD some underage porn on the website? - remember that Berry had already turned 18 before he met with Eichewald and by then any images of him on his website were as a legal adult.

Did Berry and Eichenwald collaborate to entrap not only the members of Justinsfriends and Mexicofriends but also anyone who was associated with the websites by uploading the images of Taylor. This way not only ensuring that Berry received immunity from prosecution but that Eichenwald got the story he wanted, one that would get them on Oprah?

If this is the case, could Kurt Eichenwald be investigated for child-pornography related charges? It would seem that the only person getting away with everything is Justin Berry.

Addendum

GenerationQ has discovered through further investigation that Kurt Eichenwald and "Andrew McDonald" have been aquainted before. In 2000 and also in 2005 on Amazon.com there is a review for "Conspiracy of Fools" by Kurt Eichenwald. It reads:

"I loved this book...Better than his last, March 27, 2005
When I saw Kurt Eichenwald had another book out, I rushed to get it. I loved The Informant, and hoped this one would be just as thrilling. It was. I literally could not put it down, which says a lot about it, since it is REALLLY long. In fact, the only criticism I have is that there is probably material that could have been cut, without hurting the story. (Full disclosure: After reading The Informant, I emailed Eichenwald with some praise, have swapped messages with him over the years and actually like him.)"

And also for "The Informant" by Kurt Eichenwald.

"Astonishing...Absolutely Astonishing, December 14, 2000
This is one of the most exciting, unbelievable and astonishing books I have ever read. Normally, I stick mostly with fiction thrillers, but a friend of mine recommended The Informant as a better Grisham thriller than the last few Grisham thrillers. And he was right. From the first page, I was totally hooked, and stunned to think that this was a true story. The best thing about The Informant is the way Eichenwald melds the true lies of the main character with the true truth of reality. Time and again, I thought I knew the truth, only to find once again that I had been fooled in this delightful hall of mirrors. After so many years of dry, predictable thrillers -- both in the bookstore and on the movie screen -- it was so refreshing to read a story that is so unpredictable and so delightful."

It seems there has been a conspiracy of fools, good to see Mr Eichenwald likes his own books.
