KT Tunstall is a Lesbians Lush, Titillating Dream

Move over Sarah McLachlan, say next time Jewel and Sheryl Crow there's a new woman in town and she's has a British accent by the name of KT Tunstall. There's an exciting buzz in the air, and I now know why? Come inside....

When I opened the package of the latest CD of KT Tunstall, I was scared to add it to my list of things to listen too. After all I did hear KT was a musician that was singing what was called the new bluesgrass sound. The next big Nora Jones or a voice unique like Bonnie Rait on the level of the blues/Jazz infusion. Well, living in the town where the home of the blues is a powerful thing, knowing many of them personally and next to that on the same level, Jazz, I was fearful my review wasn't going to be pretty. What I received was a surprise, it was good! More then good, I started to play Eye to the Telescope, KT Tunstall first attempt of producing a solid first CD every day. Okay, it's went into my iRiver, now that's saying a lot!

I get excited when I can find a woman musician that has more then a pop studio produced sound throughout 12 tracks. KT Tunstall is not such a musician. Her range in the genre on this one CD goes from sort of a Pop/Folk, Jazz, Blues and even a bit of Bluegrass and Country thrown in for good measure. From the first Track, Other Side of the World clearly lending to the hay-day of a modern day women's festival that would have women grooving to the silky sounds, and leaning next to a warm spicy beat of drums, and rhythms. The Track Another Place to Fall my favorite track on this CD; not the acclaimed title Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, thought it has an unique sound as if I can see her on the front pouch with country spoons, with some moonshine next to the rocker. ?Under the Weather,? and Miniature Disasters hits home with me; with it feel good sounds you listen to on a cool rainy night with a nice hot cup of Camille tea. This is perhaps the sounds that rings true to sounding like blues, and Bonnie Rait, one of my all time rockin' women. A bit of Susan Tedeschi as well.

Call me crazy, but anytime one CD can blend many genres and make it work as a complete piece is alright with me. I give it 4 QP out of 5, for freshness, diversity in tone, range and lyrics. Ladies, and men alike will want to have this CD in their driving collection. It's that good!

KT Tunstall (Eye to me Telescope) go pick up a copy, take it in your car, drive down a nice long stretch of road and have the top or windows down! Enjoy.
