LA smoking campaign to gays and lesbiansLos Angeles will soon have its own program on smoking aimed at gays and lesbians. The Last Drag - it's not a theatre show; it's a campaign/program that will ultimately be aimed at gay and lesbian people to get them to quit smoking in Los Angeles, USA. The program will be launched on the back of figures released that indicate homosexuals are twice as likely to 'light up' than heterosexuals, and also due to success in similar campaigns in San Francisco. Specific reasons for such conclusions have not been drawn, but it has been suggested by social commentators that it is due to 'societal stress', and also being victims of continual homophobia. It is also thought that indoor social smoking environments contribute to the cause, something which the Gay and Lesbian Centre in Los Angeles wishes to have changed. Close to AUD$39,000 will be spent on the campaign which has been funded by taxpayers.
