Mrs Palfrey at the ClaremontDVD - Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont
Madman Entertainment Now On DVD This sweet and touching film stars the amazing talents of Joan Plowright. This film look at what happens when a single older woman must move out of her home and into a dreaded retirement community known as the Claremont. What happens next, is a touching and unexpected friendship with a young man. Coming to London to see her grandson, Mrs Palfrey finds herself moving into a retirement home. Her grandson is the highlight of her life as she has been abandoned by most of her family. After trying to unsuccessfully to contact him with no response, Mrs Palfrey meets a sweet young writer named Ludavic. Mrs Palfrey asks the young man if she would consider being her grandson, to impress the other old folks in the retirement home. What comes next is a sweet and honest friendship between them. This film is very touching on many levels. The issues of love, respect and honesty are at the forefront. Joan Plowright is such an amazing actress in everything that she does. The very cute Rupert Friend is just as engaging as he stands out in this film. I expect big things in the future from him. The chemistry between Plowright and Friend came across well on screen; it seemed like a real and genuine grandmother and son relationship. Marcus Richa
