My Opinion on Love

A small insight on what I believe love to be.

Love has many definitions and attachments. What one might consider love toward a parent or sibling may be different to what they feel toward a close friend or lover.

In the aspect of intimate love, love becomes even more complex. Love can be passionate, but yet has to feel safe and serene. The act of making love brings out our inner desires; makes us wild and heated, yet we make love and not consider it plain sex because we share something more than just animal nature. Our souls, our hearts are attached in the ritual, and as peace and warmth flow through us, it creates a closer, intimate bond. The love that comes from the one we love this way becomes something different in entirety: it becomes emotional attachment, security and relaxation.

Happiness and inner joy that come as a consequence from this particular love engulfs us in emotions that, although felt before, create different sensations. The sensations, in return, create a greater attachment toward that individual. The greater the attachment, the greater the loss that is felt when its gone. Since we bond in a different level, parts of us become one; we create a connection that makes us feel complete yet makes us feel empty once its no longer there.

We mourn when we lose this kind of love. We feel incomplete, unfinished. Our need to belong, our need to feel close to someone brings us pain. Pain because for some reason we feel cheated and betrayed. Yet, as humans, as animals, we continually seek this form of love. Although one might decide to never fall in love again, what does that truly bring? Loneliness.  Regardless of the pain one has felt because of a lost love, we learn from it. We learn because our soul needs company; our heart needs another. We move on, we find another love. Whether it feels the same or not, we seek it. Thats who we are; thats what we do.

Intimate love is more than a four-letter word. Its peace, serenity, relaxation, bonding, passion, desire, loss, pain, mourning, need and moving on all wrapped up in a four-letter package.
