New York Law Firm Accused of Gay BiasIn a "Philadelphia" come true, a New York City law firm is facing gay-bias charges. Even though he may not have the backing of vital LGBT activism groups, Aaron Charney has filed suit against his high profile employer, Sullivan & Cromwell alleging discrimination based upon his gay orientation. Charney claims that a partner named Eric Krautheimer tossed a document on the ground and insisted that Charney pick it up yelling, "Bend over and pick it up, sure you like that." Charney, an associate there at the time, says in his complaint that this was only one of several situations in which he was singled out because he was gay. Check back Tuesday, January 23rd when we will take a deeper look into this story.
Charney publicized his complain on the internet mid last week. Normal cases are generally handled internally to save the reputation of the attorney and the firm.
