New gay television drama in the worksQueer as Folk creator Russell T Davies has confirmed that a new gay drama is in the process of being created. Russell T Davies, the creator of Queer as Folk, has confirmed that a new gay drama that revolves around âforty-something gay menâ is in development.
It has been reported that the script for the show is currently being written, with no television network locked in to broadcast the drama. Mr Davies said in an interview with The Guardian âIt's going to be about forty-something gay men and how jealous they are of gay teenagers. I've been longing to write something for adults.â Queer as Folk ran for two seasons in the United Kingdom before the show became a success across the world with a North American version spanning five seasons. Mr Davies is also behind Torchwood which made its screen debut in Australia earlier this year. Channel Ten purchased the first two seasons of the show, but disappointing ratings saw Torchwood be moved to a midnight timeslot. Fans of the show are calling for the ABC to broadcast season two.
