NorbitDVD - Norbit Out Now, starring Eddie Murphy Norbit
Paramount Home Entertainment Out Now on DVD Eddie Murphy Playing multiple roles in the same film is something that the very talented Eddie Murphy is used to. In Norbit he does it again playing the title role and a horrific over the top wife known as Rasputia. Shot on location at Universal Studios Hollywood, Norbit is a very funny and somewhat over the top comedy about a man trapped, in love. Abandoned when he was born, Norbit is raised in an orphanage by some colourful characters that have a very big impact on his life. Norbit is a timid, shy individual who has been trapped at a early age into marrying his crazy, and very large wife Rasputia. This woman is pure evil and enjoys making poor Norbit and those around him suffer by any means that she can. When a local developer and some tuff thugs try to buy the orphanage that Norbit grew up in, many problems arise. They want to turn it into a strip bar. Old friends and feelings surface for Norbit, he has to make a choice to save what he believes in or follow his wife’s wishes. Norbit is filled with every fat and racial joke in the book. It is offensive and will offend every minority group, be warned. Saying that, Norbit is very funny and I found my self laughing in many scenes that I would normally not. Hot on the heels of Murphy’s success in Dreamgirls it’s easy to see why this film came out of nowhere very quickly. This is the kind of film to watch when you need cheering up or hanging out with friends having a beer and pizza night. Marcus Richa
