Popular Singer Gay BashedGay performing artist Kevin Aviance is recoving in a New York City hospital after being attacked early Saturday morning. Police are charging four people with a hate crime. Singer Kevin Aviance underwent surgery on his jaw and is in stable condition after being gay bashed early Saturday morning outside a New York City nightclub. The singer whose dance hits ?Alive,? ?Give it Up? and ?Din Da Da? have all topped the Billboard charts was attacked by six or seven men who shouted anti-gay slurs and beat him. Four people were arrested on charges of first-degree assault as a hate crime, police said. They are Jarell Sears and Akino George, both 20; Gregory Archie, 18; and Gerard Johnson, 16. "I got kicked in my head 12 times. They kicked me in my back, They kicked in my knees. They just kept kicking," Aviance said. "They kept yelling 'F- - -ing faggot!' I thought I would be dead. I really thought they were going to kill me." Aviance, 38, performs in drag but was dressed as a male at the time of the attack according to his publicist, Len Evans. Aviance's jaw is wired shut, but he hopes to perform in the city's Gay Pride parade at the end of the month, Evans said. The agent had said earlier that Aviance would not be able to sing at the event. ``He's going to try to get his strength back so that he can perform,'' he said.
