According to a statement on their website, the pretentious riot girl band Sleater-Kinney has broken up.
The statement reads:
"After 11 years as a band, Sleater-Kinney has decided to go on indefinite hiatus. The upcoming summer shows will be our last. As of now, there are no plans for future tours or recordings. We feel lucky to have had the support of many wonderful people over the years. We want to thank everyone who has worked with us, written kind words about us, performed with us, and inspired us. But mostly we want to extend our gratitude to our amazing fans. You have been a part of our story from the beginning. We could not have made our music without your enthusiasm, passion, and loyalty. It is you who have made the entire journey worthwhile."
This indie-rock band came from Olympia, WA. Composed of Janet Weiss, Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker, the band would make seven albums which were; Sleater-Kinney (2005), Call The Doctor (1996), Dig Me Out (1997), The Hot Rock (1999), All Hands On The Band One (2000), One Beat (2002), and their successful yet last album The Woods (2005).
For their contributions to rock in the 90's they will definitely be missed. Below are tour dates for their remaining shows, if you plan to attend, it's a suggestion you get tickets fast because these shows will be packed.

Aug 1 - 930 Club, Washington, DC
