GenQ - For the not so straight individual

As most of you are probably aware by now, The Divinyls are back with a hot new song: Don't Wanna Do This! This is their first new song in 10 years, and is already set to be a VERY welcome comeback!

For those who don't remember The Divinyls, the Australian group, led by singer Chrissie Amphlett, had a number of hits in the 80's and 90's, including Boys In Town, Pleasure And Pain, Ain't Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore, I'm Jealous, and the controversial hit, I Touch Myself (well, it was controversial at the time anyhow! I mean, it was 1991 after all). Chances are, even if the titles don't ring any bells, you've heard their songs. For example, if you ever saw the original Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie, Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore was a hit from that.

Chrissie Amphlett was, and still is, one of the most influential women in rock, let alone Aussie rock! With her trademark school uniform, fishnets and high heels, Chrissie rocked the stages of the world and brought a new sound to the world, with a mix of punk and rock music. Chrissie's sexually charged performances also took the audiences to new heights.

After performing together in 1997, it wasn't until 2006 that The Divinyls were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, and reunited for a red-hot performance! Obviously, this rekindled some old chemistry, as the group went to Las Vegas to record their new single Don't Wanna Do This in September this year, with a new album to follow in early 2008. Don't Wanna Do This was produced by iconic producer Pat Thrall and Divinyls drummer Charley Drayton.


When it was first announced that The Divinyls are returning to the stage for this year's Homebake Festival, the fans, both old and new, went into hysterics. Not wanting to miss their chance to see their idols in person, all 20,000 tickets for Homebake were sold out fast! Since then, The Divinyls have announced more shows for Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide as part of their "Don't Wanna Do This Tour" with special guests The Church, another iconic Australian band. As a special bonus, all tickets for this tour will come with a copy of the Don't Wanna Do This single!!!
