The Formative Years

Do you do things because you want to do them? Or do you do them simply to please Mom and Dad?

Have you ever sat, and blamed everything on your parents? Thought, well is it because of them I have that nose? I hate my hair, my eye color, my genes! Well for a second let us forget genetics. What about the other things we learn from our parents? Like our manners or our habits, good and bad?

They say it is the formative years that make us who we are. It molds us, cuts us and creates us. It makes us happy, sad, angry, and depressed. For a short time this is our parents doing. They care and raise us. But eventually we become our own bodies and beings.

We are all some what formatted by our parents. Eventually, we will all get to an age where only we matter. Yes, there is nothing like putting a smile on the face of good old Mom and Dad. But soon we realize that doing things for them is not always doing things for us. Live for yourself! If you want that job that only you believe in, go for it. At the end of the day, we have to feed ourselves and answer to ourselves ONLY!
