Melbourne Theatre Company’s THE HISTORY BOYS will begin previews next Monday 9 April at 8pm.
THE HISTORY BOYS features Craig Annis, Michael Finney, Ben Geurens, André Jewson, Morgan David Jones, Brian Lipson, Rhys McConnochie, Luke Mullins, Matthew Newton, Beejan Olfat, Deidre Rubenstein and Ashley Zukerman in the Victorian Premiere production of Alan Bennett’s hilarious and thought-provoking play, directed by MTC Associate Director Peter Evans.
Winner of 30 major awards including Olivier and Tony Awards for Best Play, THE HISTORY BOYS will open officially on Thursday 12 April 2007 at the Arts Centre Playhouse (100 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne). This is a limited season to 12 May 2007.
Set in the 1980s in the north of England, THE HISTORY BOYS charts the fortunes of an unruly bunch of bright sixth-form boys in pursuit of a place at Oxford or Cambridge under the guidance of a maverick English teacher (Green Room Award-winner Rhys McConnochie) and a shrewd supply teacher (Logie-nominee Matthew Newton).
