The Number 23: Just A Movie? The Number 23 is about a man obsessed with, well, the number 23. But how relevant is the number 23 to our lives? Ok, so I hired out the new movie The Number 23 recently, and I loved it. I knew it was a psychological thriller about obsession, and figured "sure, I can watch it as just a movie and not become obsessed" ... but now I'm not so sure! As usual, I watched the movie, then the Behind The Scenes featurettes ... and there were some featurettes that also discussed the relevance of the number 23, and the fact that there are people out there obsessed with it, known as "23rdians".
One of the bonus features talked about numerology, and basically, you get your date of birth (mine is 11-02-1981) and add up each individual number together (1+1+2+1+9+8+1) ... imagine my surprise when my date of birth added up to 23! So I decided to try a few others out. The registration plates for one of my old cars was FZB 373 ... when replacing the letters with their numerical value, it works out as 682373 ... there's the 23 in the middle again. Also, when I lost my partner, Nicholas, to cancer, guess how old I was? That's right, 23. Yeah, ok, you might see it as a tiny thing and scoff at it, but there are people out there who would say "look, there's the 23. It's following me again!" The next thing I looked at was the date of birth of my partner: 30-03-1988. 3+3+1+9+8+8 = 32 ... which is 23 backwards! So there's a few small 23's in my life, and I'm sure that, the more I look, the more I'll find. However, here's some other interesting facts about the relevance of the number 23 in life and history:
So there you have it ... some more examples of the number 23 in history and life. At first I thought it was just a movie, and so will most of you ... but what's your theory now?
