The Pursuit Of HappynessDVD - A touching true story set in San Francisco. The Pursuit of Happyness
Out Now on DVD Sony Pictures Will Smith Normally I tend not to be a fan on any of Will Smiths films in general. I just think there are so many better actors out there who do not get as much attention as he does. Saying that, I always watch his films with a complete open mind as not to sway my view. I enjoyed Hitch and Im pleased to say that Purist of Happyness is a really good film. This film is based on a real life story of a single father trying to survive in life. There is a large amount of human emotion and feeling that Smith put into this role. This is what probably made me enjoy this film more so that his previous work. Also due to the fact that he was not blowing anything up or shooting anybody was a nice change. Chris Gardner is a single father trying to make ends meat and create a life for him and his 5 year old son. Smiths real life son played this role in the film, so that was a good bit of casting there. Chris is having a time just living and getting by day by day. He has been evicted from his home and he and his son find themselves living on the street. To make matters worse he is arrested for not paying his parking fines and has to spend a night in jail. Chris is working in a trial program with a stock broking firm trying to obtain one of the paid positions that the company offers. This trial is a non paid role and this only makes his life even harder with no financial income. A film with such a sad story just makes you wish for a happy ending. Without giving to much away this is a film about hope and trying to create a better life for you and your family and to live your dreams. Marcus Richa
