New GenQ writer Cat is proud to be a fag hag..
This is my first article for Generation Q & first article full stop for that matter…
I’m Cat & I am a Fag-Hag… I tell people I am, and therefore let it define me, because it’s something very important to me. However, a lot of straight people have no idea what I’m talking about.
I have a very important role to play & didn’t know how important it was until a short time ago.
This is the way it usually goes; you meet a special boy, you hit it off instantly and after a few grabs of your breasts as well as comments about your bubbliness & fashion sense, become his Fag-Hag. You do so much together & eventually you become a Fag-Hag to others along the way. Well, not just anyone though, only very special boys…
A true Fag-Hag, by the way, is easily spotted a mile away. She doesn’t need a badge or anything; she just stands out somehow & gets picked. She doesn’t chase & is totally herself. (NB: She must be chosen, on a mutual basis of course).
I’m proud to say that I’m a Fag-Hag to four boys currently, one of which is this site’s entertainment editor.
The boy that I was originally a Fag-Hag to is no longer in my life, which is a bit sad, however through that relationship I have met so many people & in particular have met some special boys who are still in my life to this day.
I have lost a few boys along the way and I guess that’s just the way the cycle goes.
I am proud to be a Fag-Hag; it allows me to be myself & I love all the musicals & camp movies & could even be considered camp too… I’m a bit of a queen at the best of times.
I have been a Fag-Hag in the making for years, being around the scene since I was about 10 years old. If you’re in Sydney, I was at the Albury hotel at the age of 10 & even sang a tune or two. I’ve been to the Stonewall which is practically next door to my uncle Tutti’s restaurant, Battuta. I’ve always loved Oxford St.
I’ve been to the Imperial Hotel and watched the Prisoner show there; love watching drag shows. They are so beautiful, talented & more feminine than I am!
Watching Sound of Music at Pink was absolutely fantastic; “What is it that you cunt face?” I hope that Grease is still happening because I really want to see it.
And, I practically know all the lines to Priscilla & Rocky Horror; tell me that Tim Curry doesn’t look hot in fishies. Guy Pearce in drag is pretty hot too - Too Wong Foo; everybody loves Patrick Swayze in and out of drag and you can’t go past Dirty Dancing without feeling a little bit moist.
I used to go to the Market in the good old days when it was 3 Faces. I’ve been to Pride March & still yet to go to Mardi Gras. (Which I plan to do next year & go right off).
A bit of Bette doesn’t go astray either; I grew up on Bette Midler, Dusty Springfield and Connie Francis. Everybody knows the Rose & You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me… I perform those numbers; I hold those songs very dear/close to my heart… My aunty Sylvana, who is a fantastic entertainer, especially in the scene is awesome. She has taught me well; I’ve really got culture/good taste because of her!
Cabaret is the way to go to cheer yourself up & get you energized, thanks Liza, & of course the Wizard of Oz; Over the Rainbow is one of my faves & always will be… I want a pair of ruby slippers just like Judy’s. So you see boys & girls, - I’m a Fag-Hag & honored to be one - Gotta love Dot !
