Titanic The Musical Opens In Sydney

Theatre - A cast of 38 is a huge effort to take on for any theatre production anywhere in the world. Kudos to the producers and the cast for making this happen. In a society as it is today, the theatre going public have become so much more discerning as to what they will see. They will not just hand over their hard earned money for anything. A production has to be able to draw the people in and provide them with a night of quality entertainment.

A cast of 37 is a huge effort to take on for any theatre production anywhere in the world. Kudos to the producers and the cast for making this happen. Titanic excelled in many ways, but with any theatre production it has the highs and the lows. The Theatre Royal in Sydney is not the largest venue out there for a cast and crew of this size. This was evident due to the sets and costumes on stage. While they were pleasing on the eye, I could not help but think they were somewhat restricted and wanted to go further with bigger and better designs. This was probably due to the size of the theatre.

The tragic story of the Titanic is a story that I never thought would be performed for the stage. While it is depressing and sad, the music also was able to capture the emotion and admiration for the great ship Titanic as well as being respectful to the story. The cast and crew are able to capture this most historical event in two and a half hour production.

Hayden Tee is well known to us here at Generation q. His musical ability shines through the entire length of the production. Hayden is one talented and very good looking guy. It is easy to see that the entire cast gave so much during the show. The talent in this show tells us just how far Australian theatre has come in recent years.

The style of the music comprise of you typical Broadway sound. There are the upbeat songs, the ballads and the down right sad and sombre numbers. The entire cast actually sings as the ship is going down, I found this unnerving but also it was the pinnacle of the production.

I was impressed with the music overall and the Australian cast sounded very strong and clear despite some opening night nerves. Give Titanic a go if you would like a good night out, as well you will be supporting Australian theatre. There has been a great number of Australian productions this year and Titanic a new musical is high on that list. This may not be eveybody's ideal show to see or an idea of a night out, but overall you will not be disappointed even if some of the songs did go on for a little bit to long.

Our Thanks To Amanda Buckworth Publicity.
