Ugly Betty is without a doubt, the gayest show on TV these days. The characters of Mark, Justin and Wilhelmina Slater have become house hold names across America with the show well into its second season. Betty Suarez and her crazy family light up the Television screens each week. Let’s take a look inside the mad world that is Mode Magazine in New York City.

America Ferrera portrays Betty Suarez a down on her luck sweet girl who ends up working for the biggest fashion magazine in America. Having been hired as a personal assistant to playboy Daniel Mead, Betty goes over and beyond the call of duty to serve her boss. With her family life always in constant turmoil, it is a wonder how Betty can hold down a tough job and be the glue that keeps her family together.

Even though the show is shot in Los Angeles, it is set in the Big Apple and thanks to the wonder of Hollywood you would never know. Each week the show emerges itself in what New York City has to offer. From the fast paced and crazy lifestyle of its inhabitants, to the working families in the Bronx and Queens, Ugly Betty covers both sides of the fence.

The biggest storyline to break from season one is that Alex Mead, brother of Daniel Mead had a sec change to become a woman known as Alexis. This happened after she was presumed dead years earlier. This was a twist that no one saw coming, and set up what was to be a brilliant storyline to close season one. The villain of the series is over the top, stunning and ever so evil Wilhelmina Slater played by the brilliant former Miss America, Vanessa Williams.

This is a must own collectors item for any DVD collection.
