Gone were there days of the single winner of the Biggest Loser in Australia, with the fourth season of the weight losing reality show shaking up the fundamentals.

The first major change to be announced for the season (which is expected to air from February 2009) is that contestants will no longer compete individually; they will compete as a couple.

Couples are not limited to those in a relationship; couples can range from husband and wife to brother and sister to best friends to work colleagues.

Contestants on next year’s series will need to be available for 20 weeks from November, and must be a minimum of 18 years old.
