Former world swimming champion Ian Thorpe has announced that he is in love, but gave away very little about his partner’s identity.
Is she good looking? Is she a sportsperson? Is she actually a he? None of those questions were directly answered, but one thing’s for certain, swimmer Ian Thorpe is in love and he is happy to share it with the world.
But the details on which particular person it is that has caught Thorpe’s eye are few and far between; the only thing Thorpe has revealed is that they are not Australian.
In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph, Thorpe said “There is [someone special in my life], but they don't live in this country.”
The twenty-five year old described the relationship as being on a “newbie” status, but said that it was going well.
Reports in previous years have indicated that Thorpe has been in relationships with television presenter Lee Furlong as well as swimmer Amanda Beard, neither of which was officially confirmed.
Debate has also regularly been sparked of Thorpe’s sexuality, a “compliment” which the Olympic gold medallist has continually denied.
