Poker in Australia is about to reach new heights with a brand new television series, Australian Poker Hero, starting production.
In an Australian first, Australian Poker Hero will provide players across the country the opportunity to become part of television history.
Thanks to Full Tilt Poker.org, the world’s leading online poker provider, Australian players can qualify to play in the TV series. Free online qualification tournaments are running each day from now until 21 November 2009. Players can register by visiting fulltiltpoker.org.
The series will pit poker players from across Australia against each other in weekly qualifiers, which also feature celebrity guests. Players will battle for a share of the weekly $25,000 prize pool, which includes $10,000 to donate to the charity of their choice.
The final table from each episode will be a direct satellite into the 2010 Aussie Millions - the richest and most prestigious poker tournament in the southern hemisphere - giving winners the chance to win the first prize pool of up to $2.5 million.
The 10 episode series will screen on the WIN and NBN networks nationally, commencing October 2009. The series will be filmed at Australia’s number one casino, Crown Entertainment Complex.
