It just may be a pattern emerging for female recording artists to go a little crazy before they resurrect their careers, ie: Mariah Carey.
In similar vein, I don’t think many would argue against the notion that Britney’s Spears’ latest album, Break the Ice is one of the best albums she’s released in her career, spanning almost a decade.
Britney's back, and in a big way. A year after she got headlines for her abysmal performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, Britney Spears has earned three nominations for this year's show, including the coveted Video of the Year prize.
Thanks to thousands of fans' votes, her video for "Piece of Me" will also battle it out for Best Female and Best Pop Video honors - giving her 16 nominations over her career.
I’m sure many would have thought such a turnaround impossible, after Spears' attempt at a comeback during the awards show backfired miserably, as viewers viewed her almost inebriated and laboured ‘dance moves’ and obvious lip-synched performance of "Gimme More." This just one devastating incident in a terrible year for the pop icon, including a failed child custody battle and a stint (or two) in rehab.
It remains unconfirmed as to whether Spears will make an encore performance at the 25th annual show. The only confirmed performers at present are Jonas Brothers, Lil' Wayne and Kid Rock, with a spokeswoman for the network saying earlier this week that Spears is in negotiations to take the stage again.
"Britney Spears made last year's MTV Video Music Awards a memorable one with her performance of 'Gimme More' - albeit in ways she may not have intended," MTV wrote on its Web site yesterday. "But on Sept. 7, Spears will get a chance at VMA glory."
On another note, GenQ has released a story possibly outing one of the Jonas Brothers, but which one? Find out what was written here
