Homophobic Bully on Big Brother

Published May 1, 2008

"I can't see a bloke wearing those glasses."

"You look like a girl or gay." so says Rory, the homophobic housemate, who also doesn't want to "sleep next to any blokes."

Already he has spent his time bullying Travis and accusing him of being gay because he is flamboyant and has a high voice.

His Big Brother profile says:

  • age: 21
  • state: VIC
  • occupation: Bricklayer
  • hates: Old people who drive 20kms under the speed limit, paying 25 cents for a little sachet of tomato sauce – it should be free.
  • love: Boobies, beer, bricks and chicks
I don't want to sleep next to any blokes

I reckon we should all gang up and vote him off the first moment we get. 2008 is the year to be proud to be a homosexual in Australia, particularly in Victoria. Relationship Register, Family/Parenting rights, Federal Legislative changes - its a great year to be gay...

Now the laws are changing, we need to change society. A clear concise message like promoting his voting off will help send a message to Australian's Homophobia in 2008 has got to go!

I dont know if you've noticed in the daily shows, how much the housemates are shown using the word 'gay' in a negative light, for example "that song is so gay" or "that is the gayest grenade ever, They keep doing this on Big Brother through out the years, even though many in the Gay community find it deeply offensive.

I noticed on the podcast of behindbigbrother.com.au, Vid and Tim said a simular thing, The show has to make up its mind whether its homophobic or not, I mean they have had plenty of gay housemates on in the past, and yet there definitly seem to be a total lack of respect.

The whole "im not gay" interview with Travis mother just adds to my point.

and yes Rory should be evicted straight away, that kind of language does not have a place on australian tv in 2008
