If you are in the mood for a good horror film this month, I recommend 1408. Based on the master Stephen King’s story this film is about a hotel room unlike any other ever visited. The world of paranoia and fear opens up and will suck you into room 1408.
Mike Enslin played by Cusack is a gifted writer. When he suffers a personal loss his world changes overnight. The promise and success that he once had as a writer now fades.
He is now writing rubbish about famous horror spots all over the world. Once day out of the blue he receives a post card from the Dolphin Hotel in New York City.
This hotel he soon discovers has a lot of history. Many deaths have occurred on this very site over the years all in room 1408. Without giving this a second though, Mike quickly checks into room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel. Much to the begging of the hotel manager played by Jackson, Mike refuses to listen to his warnings.
Once in this room it begins to play vicious mind tricks on Mike and his past secrets come to light to torment him even further. The CGI effects are amazing and really make this film what it is, a feast for the eyes. The plot is easy to follow and Cusack pretty much carries this film on his own.
