If you are dying to see a good horror film so far year, then 30 Days of Night is it. With the most realistic images of Vampires that I have seen on screen in a long time, these guys are convincing as to what real Vampire’s should look and act like. This is Hollywood so everything comes across bigger and better that we have seen before.

Set in Alaska, this is said to be the most remote location in the United States. For 30 days there is no sunlight and this sets the premise for the film. Vampires arrive into town and suddenly throw everything to complete chaos. This group led by Marlow, played by Danny Huston only have killing on their minds.

Josh Harnett plays the town’s sheriff, Eben and Melissa George plays his estranged wife Stella. It is up to them to save the town and the few survivors that have not been killed by the Vampires. There really isn’t much of a story, just the Vampires go from place to place to attack and fight till the end with as many killings in between.

The effects were amazing and visually horrific. Marlow and his team were convincing down to the last details. From the teeth to the eyes to the ears no body part was left unnoticed. This film has so much gore and the killing scenes are the best that I have seen in a long time. Hartnett’s acting and one facial expression wont bother you thanks to the fast pace of the film and the amazing effects.
