Breach
Stars: Ryan Phillippe
Fox Home Entertainment
This true story tells of corruption and deceit in the highest levels of the FBI. This film is a shocking account of one of the most serious breaches of security in America’s history.
Real life FBI agent Robert Hanssen committed a crime not against the country but the American people. For twenty-two years he sold highly classified secrets to the former Soviet Union. In 2001 he was found guilty of treason.
Breach show’s Hanseen as a committed christian, and family man. It is hard to think that a devoted man like this would commit such a horrible crime over many years day in and day out. His loving wife and family had no clue just what kind of person Hanseen really was.
Young FBI agent in training Eric O’Neill is chosen to do a special task. He must spy on elite agent Hanseen. Being chosen for this job because of his good mind and computer skills, Eric does not know what he has signed on for.
His life changes almost daily as he watches and reports on his boss’ every move. Heading the investigation against Hanseen is Agent Kate Burroughs played by the amazing Laura Linney. Kate is Eric’s only friend in this entire situation and the two form a respectful bond.
Breach has a very strong script going it for it. This was the highlight for me. While there may not be a lot of action, or fast paced drama, the script held this film together in every way. Breach is a good film that was accurate to real life people and events. Ryan Phillippe just gets better with age, both in his acting ability and his looks.
